چکیده

Computational grids are heterogeneous, dynamic and distributed environments that enable large-scale sharing of resources within groups of individuals and/or institutions [9]. A grid environment collects a lot of information and information itself is a critical resource in computational grids, so it is necessary to well administrate it. A fundamental element in a grid infrastructure is the Information Service that provides some basic mechanisms for discovering and monitoring distributed resources. In Globus Toolkit, Monitoring and Discovery Service (MDS) [4,5,10], provides directory services for grids. It allows to manage static and dynamic information about the status of a computational grid and all its components and it uses Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) [2], as a uniform interface to such information. In this paper we propose a Dynamic Grid Catalog Information Service (DGC), that is a complementary approach based on relational data model [3,6,7,8]. Our DGC Information Service has been designed to meet a lot of requirements such as access to static, dynamic information related to grid resources, uniform, flexible access to information, efficient and secure access to dynamic data, decentralized maintenance, fault tolerance, etc., in order to achieve better performance, scalability, security, extensibility and decentralized control and maintenance. In the DGC Information Service that we envision a lot of information will be stored. For instance:

A Semantic Metadata Catalog Service for Grid

Metadata is the information that describes the most important feature of an object. In recent years, metadata plays a more and more important role in data intensive applications. In this paper, we propose a semantic metadata catalog service, Semantic MCS. Semantic MCS has a well-organized data management model and supports the query mechanism using Ontology inference. Furthermore, we discuss th...

Dynamic Replication based on Firefly Algorithm in Data Grid

In data grid, using reservation is accepted to provide scheduling and service quality. Users need to have an access to the stored data in geographical environment, which can be solved by using replication, and an action taken to reach certainty. As a result, users are directed toward the nearest version to access information. The most important point is to know in which sites and distributed sy...

GRESS - a Grid Replica Selection Service

Grid technologies and infrastructures facilitate distributed resource sharing and coordination in dynamic, heterogeneous, multi-institutional environments. A replica catalog is a Grid component that keeps replica locations of data objects and provides location transparency to data access. Replica selection is of great importance to data-intensive scientific computing targeted by many data Grid ...

Grid computing enhances standards-compatible geospatial catalogue service

A catalogue service facilitates sharing, discovery, retrieval, management of, and access to large volumes of distributed geospatial resources, for example data, services, applications, and their replicas on the Internet. Grid computing provides an infrastructure for effective use of computing, storage, and other resources available online. The Open Geospatial Consortium has proposed a catalogue...

Metadata Management in Grid Database Federation

Metadata management is a common issue in many types of information systems. In the field of integrating distributed database resources to build database federation, because of the heterogeneous nature of various database systems, the task of metadata management can be more complex than in a homogenous environment. The fast growing grid technology provides new approaches for database federation ...
